PREP-Parish Religious Education Program/Family Catechesis

Our Parish Religious Education Program welcomes all students in Grades 1-8 who are not attending a Catholic school or receiving religious education at home. Our vision is to build strong Catholic families where children learn the joys of following Jesus, and the truths of their Faith through the witness of Christ's life given by their parents and faith community. We hope to foster an experience for your child(ren) to have an authentic encounter with our Lord, Jesus Christ. Classes are designed to assist the parents in educating their children in the Catholic faith. PREP will be on Sundays from 9:00-10:10 a.m. Parents are encouraged, but not required to stay with their child(ren). Students in grade 2 receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. Students in grade 8 receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. There are sessions for both parents and students regarding the Sacraments, as well as retreats for the students. Our preparation for Sacraments is a two year process, so students are required to have attended a religious education program for both 1st and 7th grades prior to receiving the Sacraments in 2nd and 8th grade.

Please email prep@htassumption.org if you have any other questions or concerns.

Liturgical Ministries

All parishioners are invited and encouraged to participate in one or more of the Liturgical Ministries for our worshipping community. Eucharistic Ministers help to distribute the Body & Blood of Christ at Communion during our Liturgies, as well as taking Communion to the homebound. Lectors proclaim the Scriptures at our parish Liturgies. Cantors or Song Leaders lead the singing for our Liturgies. Servers are young people who have made their First Communion and older, who assist the priest during the Liturgy, and Ushers/Greeters help welcome people to the church, as well as assist with the church collection and Communion lines. Please contact the parish office at 419-644-4014 if you have any interest in helping out in any of our Liturgical Ministries.
